Worried?

The clock shows 3.36am. No I'm not awake because of the Man Utd match later, neither am I awake to download anime. I'm thinking about my mid-terms. Basically, worried.

It's already coming to the end of week 6 for my University. That means my mid-term is just around the bend. My body is suppose to be cuddling my pillow on my bed while my mind should have been in dreamland about an hour ago. I was studying before this and the subject I was doing is the subject I really have no clue about since day 1. Even after deciding it was time for bed, I can't sleep. I'm still wide awake.

I've been thinking about my up coming mid-term exams. I'm not sure I'll finish studying in time for it. Time does not seem to be on my side. I've been studying but is it enough? That's the other thing that's bugging me. Will I be able to pull through? I know I seem not confident at all. Well, I wish I knew where it went.

I have class later at 9am. I guess I should just go read a portion of my notes and digest it. Hopefully I'll feel better.

Homosexuality.

Last Sunday was a quiet day for me. That changed very fast within 2 days. I stayed up the entire night trying to write my moral assignment in BM. I have been speaking english and am struggling with my Mandarin and Cantonese, suddenly, I have to write in BM again. So what seem to be a simple task turn out to be quite a challenge. I had an online translator to help but I didn't find it of much help. I typed in "Having said that" and it translated for me into "Mempunyai berkata yang". Errr... I didn't think that made any sense. Never mind I thought. I'll just reconstruct my sentences.

My topic was rather an interesting topic. It's a group work and I was assign to discuss from the point of view of any religion regarding same sex marriages. I chose Catholicism. Reason being, I'm a Catholic. I found this online website that actually gave a very good argument about the church's stand on same sex marriages. http://www.davidmacd.com/catholic/why_catholics_against_gay_marriage.htm

Wikipedia defines homosexuality as a sexual behavior or attraction between people of the same sex or to homosexual orientation.
Briefly, the church does not condemn gays or lesbians but rather the act of it. It's not wrong if a person is gay or a lesbian, but if the person chooses to have a have a sexual relationship with another person of the same sex, then, it's wrong.

I wrote a 5 page report for my assignment base on this website, a bible and speaking to a member of a charismatic prayer group in my church. So now that I'm done with my assignment, I'll have to study for an upcoming mid-term exam on Tuesday. *sigh...

A Quiet Sunday

I wake to the sound of birds chirping. It's 9.30am on a Sunday morning. I feel so lazy and don't want to move. I want to continue sleeping. Then the thought of incomplete assignments, one of which I didn't even know existed until yesterday, made me not want to wake. I have a whole lot of laundry to do and my rooms a mess. How the hell am I going to complete all that to day? I wonder.. It's a lazy day for me. I know what I should be doing but my body doesn't agree with my head. My body plays dead. O crap.. Am I going to waste the entire day laying around doing nothing? I don't know.

Finally, I muster some energy and slowly pull myself out of bed and start walking around the house. Everyone is still in dreamland. Even my pet tortoise is snoring away. It seems very quiet, except for those singing birds outside. Is it music or sheer noise? I can't decide. I move to the balcony; everything seem to be in a stand still. I don't see a soul. *Yawn... Maybe I should just go back to bed.
zzz...

Anything?

I was shopping in Jusco when I stumbled upon Anything. My friend and I then decided we should get Anything and try Anything. It isn't new neither is it very old, but it's the first time I see Anything in the supermarket. I just can't stop thinking about Anything. This, is Anything. :)

The name of this product is so fun that I start thinking of ways to confuse people. I haven't seen it in coffee shops yet so imagine walking into one and instead of ordering the usual 'coca-cola' or '100+', you tell the guy you want Anything. :) It's sure to confuse the waiter.

TM; A Screw-Up.

My Internet was down for the pass few days. It seems TM was giving me some problem again. I called up TM "technical assistance" to lodge a report regarding this matter and to tell them that my home phone has no dial-tone.
The following day, I received no call whatsoever from any TM officer for an update. Basically, I was left in the dark. Tired of waiting, I called TM back in the evening. I wasn't able to get them the 1st time. I had to keep calling, calling, and calling and finally, someone answered. I asked about the status of the report I made the day before and they told me

TM: "Sir, this is cable problem. Your area got a lot of construction so maybe one of the cable
there has been damaged by the construction."

ME: "What construction? Where?"

TM: "Sorry sir, I don't have that information. It is only written in our system that your area
got cable problem and our technician is still monitoring the problem."

ME: "Ok... When is the dateline for this report?"

TM: "Today sir."

ME: "The dateline is today and you haven't fixed the problem?"

TM: "Yes sir but we are still monitoring the problem. Sir not only you affected. About 600
people in your area also affected."

Ok whatever. The dateline for the report I made was due that day and still nothing was done. I was PISSED. The fact that they could tell me that some cable was hit by a construction site but couldn't tell you where it is is MIND-BOGGLING. I was told to wait further and that someone would call me the following day to update me.

I did get a phone call the next day from a TM officer who said they were still monitoring the situation and needed me to wait. So I waited... the whole day. At the end of that day, I got tired of waiting, I called back at about 9.30pm. The usual, I had to make several tries before someone answers my call. I enquired about my case and he put me on-hold for ooo-so-long and when he finally got back to me, he told the same story. Cable problem. He even told me that I'm calling the wrong department. I asked him "If I'm calling the wrong department, why is it that from the beginning, your colleague could open a report for me? Why is it that your colleague could help me earlier?" In case he didn't realise, when I called, I pressed 6 for "TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE".
He wasn't of any help. so I decided to call back, hoping to get a different operator who could get things done for me fast. I called back, talk to a different operator, and this is what he told me

TM: "Sir, right now, I checked, the technician has already change the slot-card but we are
not sure why your side still has no dial-tone."

ME: "Why just now I call you guys didn't tell me this? All your colleague told me was 'cable
problem'"

TM: "Ah.. But now I check, it says that the technician has already changed the slot-card. So
we are not sure why the problem still persist. We are still monitoring this problem sir.
Because this problem only affects you."

That's when I blew my top.

ME: "Ha.. wait.. you see. When I called you up earlier regarding this matter you guys tell me
about 600 over people affected. Now you are telling me only me affected? What are you
trying to tell me? Are you trying to cook-up a story so you'll no need to work? I call you
using my cell phone, who pays for the bill? I do, and I have to call you back to check
back on the status of this report. Who pays for the bills? I do. I pay you guys but you
give this kind of service...."

Suddenly the phone line went dead. WTF!!! The operator hung-up on me? I tried calling back but could not call through. I was so PISSED, I turned on my friends computer, use the wireless his laptop was able to detect and lodge a complain to the "Federation Of Malaysian Consumers Association"(FOMCA) through "National Consumer Complaints Centre"(NCCC).

This morning I turned on my modem, miraculously, I was able to log on to the World Wide Web. Did NCCC helped me? I wouldn't know yet. But things are now working; though for how long, I wouldn't know.

We as consumers have got Rights. Every time you feel cheated, PLEASE go straight to FOMCA to lodge a complain.

Fireworks.

Just when I thought I would have to be contented with just this,
my sister and her husband went on to buy more explosives...
Playing the "ANG PHOW" is illegal so we went up to our family estate, up in the hills and away from the city and those annoying policemen.
Hanging from that durian tree is my RM28 8ft monster :)
Before releasing it, we did have some fun with the other fire crackers. Below are some of the crackers caught in action.
All that caught on camera :) Awesome isn't it ? If you liked the pictures, you'll love this video :) It's a little dark but it's "viewable". (remember to turn up your speaker)

Gone in 32 seconds. But I really enjoyed myself. Just watching it blow-up, the flashy lights, the loud explosion, the smoky smell after everything is over; it is this that completes my Chinese New Year :) Knowing that I'm actually still very excited about this whole thing. My brother-in-law took this picture from the video of the last explosion.I can't wait for the next Chinese New Year.
